Here's the routine we use for adjusting the brakes on MM13. - Chock the front wheels, jack the back of the car up, and release the handbrake.
- Adjust the rear brakes up until they start to bind, then back them off a click or two until the wheel spins smoothly.
- Give the brake pedal a couple of pumps to make sure the shoes are centered correctly.
- Open the brake bias valve fully so full braking force is going to the rear wheels. Steadily reduce the effort to the rear wheels on the brake bias valve, getting an assistant to apply the brake firmly after each adjustment, until you reach your preferred level of rear effort. Different people like different brake balance, but you probably don't want them completely locked up solid.
- Check that when your assistant releases the foot brake the wheel spins again easily with no dragging. If it doesn't, something's wrong.
