Folklore has it that in the first couple of years of Mighties, 2 drivers both rebuilt engines with shiny new 1.3i camshafts only to discover later that they were given Sprite camshafts by mistake, and hence were well down on power. Here's how to tell the difference:- - The 1275 SPI Cooper cam as fitted to all injection Coopers (63bhp) has 3 x 1/8" raised rings between lobes 7 & 8.
- The 1275 A+ Sprite/Injection (50bhp) cams have 2 x 1/8" raised rings between lobes 7 & 8.
