In the past I've got some great on-track video from my camcorder during action days at Castle Combe, and footage that other Mighty Mini drivers have got during races is absolutely fantastic. So what do you need to do to get a camera fitted into your race car?

Get a decent mounting bracket - The Superclamp with double ball tilt-head (SC2) from B. Hague and Co is easy to mount to the roll cage, and cheaper than the kit you'll get from most other vendors.Camcorder mount and retaining strap

Fit a secondary restraining strap - Basically this is like a webbing strap that is designed to make sure the camera doesn't go flying around the car if you have a bump. So long as you have something securely strapped to the camcorder and then around the roll cage you should be fine.

Get permission from the circuit - Phone the circuit before the day of the event and check what the procedure is. They may just require a letter from you stating that the footage is for your own personal use (ie not for broadcast or resale). Bigger circuits may require you to sign and return a disclaimer form. Either way, don't just assume you can pitch up on the day and film your track time, as the circuit probably won't allow it.
