Yesterday I had my medical to check I'm fit to race. Pretty straightforward really. First thing was an eye test to check my general eyesight is OK, my peripheral vision is normal, I'm not colour-blind, and my depth perception is sound. Then a quick physical exam to check my heart and lungs are in good shape, my reactions are normal and that I have good mobility. I got the added bonus of a testicular cancer check at no extra charge. I'm not quite sure how that affects my ability to drive a car, but it's good to know everything down there is normal (not that I don't check them 5 or 6 times a day myself anyway). Then a urine test to check for good kidney function and diabetes. Again, all clear. And that was about it. 20 minutes, £80 (apparently the standard rate for a sports medical at my surgery) and I'm ready to do the ARDS test itself now.
