So the first of the steps to get my race license is under way. I received my ARDS course pack from the MSA this morning, so I can now do the studying I need to get the necessary know-how, and get the medical form signed by my Doc. After that the next challenge is to find somewhere to do the ARDS course. Ideally I'd like to do it at one of the smaller venues (as some of the instructors at the larger venues are allegedly a bit cocky and unhelpful), and ideally a venue where the Mightys are likely to race in 2007 to gain some familiaristaion with circuit and facilities. But of course it's never that straightforward.

  • Anglesey is closed for the winter while they get a load of building work done, and is quite a long way away too.
  • Castle Combe aren't running any more courses until the spring.
  • Likewise Mallory.
  • Pembrey  don't have a qualified instructor at present.
  • Donnington/Brands Hatch/Silverstone all fall under the category of "too big".
  • Croft and Knockhill are too far away.
  • Which leaves Three Sisters, Thruxton and Goodwood, none of which are very likely to be hosting Mighty Mini races in 2007.

Decisions, decisions...
